Elevator Pitch

The link to my pitch: https://youtu.be/0JtI8U51-n4

The feedback I received on my last pitch was that I needed to vocalize more and try to make my words clearer. I also got the feedback that I need to do more with my hands. There were some points in my pitch where my hands holding each other and I tried to improve on that. I did also tied my tie better this time and looked more professional. I think the most important thing I still need to improve on is speaking louder and making my words clearer.

Reading Reflection 2

This book had some really good information about building your social media account.  It really gave a good perspective about how to manage your social media accounts on different platforms. It gave a lot of different tactics on when and how to post on social media. The information was tailored for people who are starting up accounts for there business and they want to build a brand. The book gave in great detail how to optimize you profile and attract as many followers in a strategic manner.
The book had a good perspective about creating a brand that enhanced what I am learning in ENT3003. The book gives a good example on how to identify opportunity in a market to promote your product or service. Learning how to adapt to a changing environment and execute a strategic plan to promote and advertise.
If I had to design an assignment for this class, I would make an assignment where the students will all have to make a new account on a social media platform, and everyone has a certain time period to post as much as they want. The point is to get your post shared as much as possible. To make it even everyone has to make a new account and start with no followers.
The biggest aha moment of the book was the information on how often to post. I thought that posting as often as you could and to anyone who is popular was the way to go. It is not and that was definitely the most eye opening tactic.

Idea Napkin No. 2

My name is Isaac Valancy and I am from Pembroke Pines, Fl. I have a lot of attributes and talents that will help me run a business like the one I proposed including organization skills, prioritization and being able to lead a team. I aspire to one day control a business similar to the one I proposed. I want a utilitarian business that is designed to be helpful for the greater good and be beneficial to all parts of society. I know that if I were to be controller of a business like this that it will consume most of my time. I will be motivated to try to improve the business model to perfection and work countless hours until I do.
I am offering a service that will help prevent countless traffic jams that start for multiple reasons. There is traffic that occurs during rush hour but that is because there are too many people going to one location and those kinds of traffic jams are not the ones my company will being trying to prevent. The traffic I intend to try to prevent is traffic jams that are caused by other reasons like accidents, broken down cars and or flat tires. My company will have numerous “road warriors” on the roads at all time patrolling specified geographic areas. They will be on call at times and people will report these incidents on an app. For example, you are on your way to a certain obligation and suddenly you hit a traffic jam. It is Saturday so you did not expect a huge traffic jam. Then while the you are stuck in traffic, you report on an app that there is a traffic jam and my road warriors will then report to the traffic jam and see what is causing it. If it is a small fender-bender then my road warriors will safely and quickly clear the road and clear all debris to allow traffic through.
My service will be paid by adding a small fee to everyone’s car registration fee. I am offering this service to everyone in specified geographic locations that have traffic jams multiple times a day for numerous reasons. This service will be beneficial to people who drive and ride cars. It will save people time and gas money. It will also be very beneficial to the environment by reducing car emission from cars that just sit in traffic.
I feel that this company is unique and has competencies that set us apart from other companies. Triple A performs a similar service, but we would be much faster than Triple A is because my “road warriors” are constantly patrolling the roads waiting for the next call. My drivers will also be certified in first aid and will apply it if needed before an ambulance arrives.
I do feel one aspect of my business is sort of out-of-joint with others. I think the reporting on an app can be altered a little and maybe make it where the driver can either call a number or report it on an app. That was one of the feedback points I received and I think it is a good idea to maybe change that part. Another point I received was that making everyone pay the fee on top of a car registration fee would be difficult to put in place. I would first want to test the market and finance it with an initial investment to prove that the concept works. I feel after being able to prove the concept and prove its feasibility that I could make this a government affiliated company.

Create a Customer Avatar

My customer’s name is Tania who is a 35-year-old woman, works part-time and stays at home to take care of the children. She lives in South Florida just east of I-95 in Hallandale Beach. Her work schedule is not consistent and varies week to week, but she usually finishes work before 4 depending on how busy they were that day. Her job is in Coral Gables and her children go to school in Aventura. She works at a mall retail store where she is an assistant manager that oversees employees’ daily duties. She enjoys running and doing exercise on the beach. She says that doing exercise on the beach makes he feel 10 years younger. She drives a Hyundai Santa Fe that can fit her and her whole family which includes her husband and two children. Her two children attend elementary school in Aventura, and she is responsible for picking them up from school everyday since her husband works till late. School ends for her children around 3 but they stay in aftercare until Tania gets out of work to go pick them up. Tania knows she must be at the school to pick up her children by 5 because that’s when aftercare is officially over. She takes I-95 to get to and from work and she knows that the traffic on there can get really congested. She usually leaves work before rush hour, so she doesn’t have to worry about getting stuck in traffic and not getting to school in time to pick up her kids. There are some days that even though she leaves before rush hour, she still gets stuck in traffic. Usually it is because someone is taking up a lane because their car is broke down or there was a fender-bender that holds up traffic. This traffic is unexpected and even though she panned ahead and avoided rush hour traffic, she still got stuck in unexpected traffic. This is really frustrating for Tania because she knows that she needs to be at the school before 5 and she is stuck in traffic for a silly reason. This would be a perfect time for a road warrior to be reported to so they can take care of the problem that is causing the traffic. Someone would report on an app and the nearest road warrior would arrive quickly and take care of the problem so traffic can clear up quickly. This could save Tania time so she can get to school on time to pickup her children. If she is late to pick up her kids, then she must pay a fee to the school. Tania gets really stressed when she unexpectedly runs into traffic and road warriors would be able to save her from that stress.

Elevator Pitch 2

Link to my Elevator Pitch:  https://youtu.be/n0kjnTxvhkM

In my last elevator pitch I was given some very valuable feedback and I tried my best to incorporate into this pitch. In my last pitch I was not very vocal and there were some words I said that people were not able to understand. I also dressed more formal to mimic how I would be dressed in an actual pitch. I also tried to use my hands more. Overall I think I have much more room to improve but compared to my last pitch, I felt much more comfortable doing this one. I prepared for it better and I feel I executed the pitch in a much more relaxed state.

Figuring Out Buying Behavior No. 2

I arranged an interview with 3 people and asked them simple questions about their perspective on traffic and how they dealt with it. All of them said that they did not like traffic and there are not many ways that they could avoid it.
The interviewees had similar opinions about how they choose a set of alternatives while dealing with traffic. All the interviewees wanted something low cost. They didn’t want something that would be expensive and viewed as a luxury. One interviewee mentioned that if the quality of the removing traffic service was good and made a significant difference while they traveled through the city, then they wouldn’t mind paying a yearly fee if it saved them money. That was the one of the biggest factors for my interviewees, they all wanted to benefit from this type of service, whether it was saving time or money. I and so did my interviewees feel that the quality of the service would be the most important thing. My services goal is to save people time and money. One interviewee mentioned that if the service cost as much money as it would cost them in gas if the service didn’t exist, then it would still be worth it. They say this because they would have saved a lot of time and you can’t put a price on time. My customers overall seemed more concerned with the quality of the service rather than the price.
My service would be a yearly fee. The fee would be placed on top of your yearly car registration fee. The service will be first provided to a geographic location and will be available 24/7. The goal of my company is to make the service a government agency that helps people save time and money. It also will help the environment by reducing car emissions.
My customers main concern is the quality of the service. They all were in favor of what I was proposing but their question was how well it will work. My service had attributes that appealed to all my interviewees. Some wanted to do well for the environment while others wanted to save time or money.
Overall, I think my service will do well in my targeted segment. I don’t think that I would have much competition in the market. I think the main factor would be the quality of my service. If my service works well then customers will immediately start to realize the benefits of the company. If my company doesn’t do its job well then, I will quickly be kicked out of the market.
